How are you all today? I am okay today, it is school holidays and while that gives me a break from the usual grind of getting the kids ready for school and packing lunches, it now means I’m harassed with questions like, what are we doing today mum? Can we go to lollipops? (Indoor play land) Can we go to flip out? (Indoor trampoline arena) Can we do this and can we do that?
It gets very old very quickly and I’m only three days in to the school holidays haha 😆
We decided at the last minute to go away for a few days and whilst that may keep the kids preoccupied, it only feels like more stress for myself. Now on top of fending off questions about what our plans are for the day and if we can go somewhere, it now brings a whole new level of questions; when are we leaving mum? Where exactly are we going mum? Is it near where we went last time mum? What will we do there mum? Are you excited mum? And my favorite (note the sarcasm) How many more sleeps until we leave mum?
There are days you plan something exciting and go to the effort of making yourself presentable for the public eye only to have the kids expect it every day. I mean, why they can’t just sleep in all day and spend the day in their pajamas is beyond me, I’d do it every day if I could haha 😆
Honestly though I do love having them home. I can lay in bed longer in the mornings, I can wear my pajamas all day (after they’ve been warned we aren’t going anywhere) if I want to. I don’t have to worry about what I look like as I walk the kids into school.
What do you do to get yourself through the school holidays? Seriously, I need advice or I’m going to go insane. Where do you take your kids? What do you do to give yourself a break from it all? Do you get to have a break from it all? I’m curious what other mums and dads out there experience. If you’re an aunt or uncle and have the privilege to spend time with your nieces and nephews, what do you do to entertain them?
I’d love to hear from you and I look forward to reading your comments.
Until then take care.
